A TELEVISION show made in the Penrith Valley gave viewers an insight into an Ugg Boot factory in their very own backyard this week.
Television Sydney (TVS) program Small Biz Central, which premiered last Tuesday, drops in on businesses across Sydney and puts their questions to a panel of experts.
The program is produced by the University of Western Sydney's college of business and will be screened on digital Channel 44.
It is hosted by former Big Brother contestant Tim Brunero.
During Tuesday's episode, viewers were taken inside the factory of Blue Mountains Ugg Boots in South Penrith which manufactures the real sheep-skin boots sold at the highway store at Faulconbridge.
"Tim showed a genuine interest," said John Daniels, who was interviewed for the episode.
Most of the boots are made at South Penrith, with some outsourced to other Australian factories in busy times.
Mr Daniels' question to the panel related to training subsidies, as it can take six to eight months of on-the-job training in the factory until staff are fully capable.
"There's a little bit of a knack to it that takes a while," he said.
TVS chief executive Rachel Bentley said people thinking of starting a business could also learn from the program.
"As a small business owner you need to be across a number of areas," she said.
Mr Brunero said he also learnt interesting things about business on the show.
"We had so many 'ooh' moments," he said.
It's an exciting time for community channel TVS, broadcast from the university's Penrith campus, which also premiered Science Spectrum last week.
The new shows join UWS program Shelf Life which also screens on Tuesday.
TVS also now has its own iPhone app.
