GET moving entries for the Miss Penrith contest will be accepted up to November 10.
The Mr and Miss Penrith pageant will be one of the highlights at the free community Rock at the Weir Festival on November 15, celebrating the centenary of the Penrith Weir and the 50th anniversary of Penrith being declared a city.
So far there are eight entries for Junior Miss Penrith and 14 for Miss Penrith for the competition on Sunday, November 15; Junior Miss Penrith from 12.30pm to 1pm, and Miss Penrith from 2.15pm to 2.45pm.
They will be judged on presentation (smart day wear), deportment and personality by none other than deportment queen June Dally-Watkins, who developed Australia's first school of deportment, model agency and business finishing college.
She was invited by her cousin and Penrith councillor Robert Ardill, and now is the head judge of the day.
Miss Dally-Watkins said she would be looking for contestants who smile, have a good personality and dress well.
``It's the way they present themselves on the catwalk,'' she said. ``I want to see personality that shines out.
``I have a personal development course that teaches a person to be well-groomed, attractive and well-mannered it's the 60th year next year in February.''
She told the Star she is excited to visit Penrith for the first time.
Junior Miss Penrith will win a junior modelling course, and Mr and Miss Penrith will each win a professional modelling or personal development course at the June Dally-Watkins School in Sydney.
All you have to do is give your age, your height and say why you should be the winner of your category.
