‘‘The family room had water running through it; the water was about halfway knee-high,’’ Ms Jessup said.

‘‘The garage was flooded and our front yard was completely under water.’’

‘‘We didn’t have time to think about it; the TV went off and a couple of minutes later my husband yelled out.’’

She said it was as if the rain simply decided it had no where else to go.

‘‘It was so quick, I’ve never seen it like that,’’ Ms Jessup said.

She said that fortunately her house was not damaged too much, although she will probably have to replace her carpet.

She said flooding had occurred around her home before, but it was not as bad as yesterday’s.
