THE Chaser's Andrew Hansen says he's as comfortable being declared public enemy number one by Channel Seven's Today Tonight as he is a scallywag by Nine's A Current Affair.
That should come as no surprise to fans of the troupe, which in recent years has become the most prominent name in cutting edge Australian comedy and satire.
The Chaser has spent 2008 away from the small screen and has instead been travelling around the country performing their stage show, The Chaser's Age Of Terror Variety Hour.
They will roll into town to put a smile on the faces of Penrith Panthers members and their guests on Friday night.
``It's been going well,'' Hansen said last week. ``It [the show] is an assault on many different subjects and it's very silly indeed.''
He said the production contained a variety of skits, songs and other craziness, as well as a fair reliance on audience participation.
He said a fun aspect of the performances was the regular Anna Coren Segue Challenge, where audience members serve up two very different topics and he and fellow Chaser, Chas Licciardello, have to create a seamless link between the two.
There is also a quiz and a jab at Vodafone's automated voice service.
``We also try to include local things in each of the places we're playing,'' Hansen said.
He said he enjoyed performing in front of an audience.
``It's the intensity,'' he said. ``It makes it more fun for us.
``And I think that with a live show the audience goes away with a memory.''
Hansen has been with The Chaser, and fellow members Licciardello, Julian Morrow, Craig Reucassel, Chris Taylor and founder Dominic Knight, since 2000.
