IF you find yourself walking down High Street around midday today in search of something to eat, be sure to stop off at the Commonwealth Bank.
Sound strange?
The Penrith branch is hosting a barbecue from 11.30am to 2pm to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer, in support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
Branch manager Tonia Allison-Aramini said she was proud to support the PCFA during the campaign: ``In a community of our size, the prevalence of prostate cancer means that it is something that sadly and inevitably affects the lives of a number of our customers, staff, friends and family,'' she
said.
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, chief executive officer of the PCFA Andrew Giles said.
``By hosting a barbeque and asking guests to make a donation, all Australians can make a significant impact in the fight against this insidious disease,'' he said.
``It is recommended that men who are 50 years and over should speak with their doctor annually about prostate cancer.
``However, if there is a family history of prostate cancer, men should speak with their doctor annually from the age of 40.''
