HONDA'S first foray into the world of custom motorcycles arrived at Penrith's Western Motorcycles in December, with all the pomp and ceremony of a rock star.
More
than 100 motorcycling fans who packed out the venue to look over Honda's new VT1300CX ABS cruiser were
kept entertained by the Panthers Cheerleaders and by trick motorcycle riders from Servin' It Up Australia.
The Fury, a distinctive chopper-style bike, oozes
appeal in the showroom.
The 90/90 21-inch front tyre and massive 200/50 18-inch rear tyre look perfect on the test bike, which is a picture of clean lines.
The rear end was inclined to perform some fancy disco
moves on uneven bitumen, a large area of which appears to have been ``laid'' rather haphazardly in and around
Wallacia and Mulgoa.
With just a 13-litre tank of fuel, the Fury is perhaps not
my first choice for an everyday bike, but it certainly fits the bill perfectly as a second ride - an ideal café cruiser.
Western Motorcycles sales manager Glen Keating said the Fury's target market would be custom buyers.
``A buyer wanting to have a custom motorcycle made from scratch is looking at a price of $50,000 to $80,000,'' he said.
``The same customer can buy the Fury off the floor for
$22,000.''
