Import experience, export skill

21 Feb, 2008 09:55 AM
IF YOUR business thinking is flirting with the joys of importing or exporting then Lance Scoular is your man.

Mr Scoular joined the Penrith business world six months ago and is already

coaching almost a dozen local firms through an 18-month Government

program tailored to their needs.

"As a mentor I give advice and provide a service funded by the Government," he said.

He is well qualified to do so.

When he left school the lure of international trade and commerce was so

strong that he joined a customs and shipping agency at Sydney Harbour until he had a run in with a union delegate.

So he moved into customs and purchasing with 3M Australia, then on to importing and exporting with Baxter Healthcare.

But wanting to do it his way he took on a new adventure and started his own

business as a customs and forwarding broker, building a business that serviced a wide variety of importers and exporters before moving into teaching and writing.

His book, Exporters and Importers - Survive and Prosper, written with John

Yelland, has been sold out.

He now works as TradeStart manager for the NSW Business Chamber and is

contracted through AusTrade to help those who are trying to master the overseas minefields.

If you would like to chat to Lance Scoular about your importing and exporting

puzzles call him on 4721 th3274.
