What the river needs, after many years of neglect by the major parties, is to make certain that nutrients being pumped into the river after the sewerage has been treated are removed, as this is causing the weed problem that we have had for the past 17 years.
The only solution is to bring our sewerage plants into the 21st century, removing the nutrients that pour into our river.
Another way to help would be to increase the flow from the paltry 5 per cent that we have at present, but Sydney Water won't do that as it will eat into their profits.
If we keep treating
the river this way we will all pay the price and our children will not be able to enjoy it.
What I would do firstly for the Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre is aske the question of Londonderry MP
Allan Shearan why it has got to this stage, as it is in his electorate.
I would lobby the Minister for Sport to make funds available, as well as approach local businesses to
raise some funding.
