PENRITH has been bit by heavy downpours tonight, causing chaos on many roads.
Police issued a media release just after 10.30 this evening, advising motorists that a number of streets in Cranebrook, Castlereagh, Kingswood, Jamisontown and Werrington had been affected by flooding.
The Great Western Highway near O'Connell Street was also affected, they said.
Police and the NSW State Emergency Service advise residents not to enter floodwaters or cross flooded roads.
At last check, Roads and Maritime Services (formerly RTA) advised the Great Western Highway at High Street was closed, the closure of Cranebrook Road between The Northern Road and Castlereagh Road and flooding on The Northern Road at Seventh Avenue, Llandilo.
They've also recorded a landslip and flooding on Springwood Road at Hawkesbury Heights.
