THE spotlight was on yet another Penrith business as the Small Biz Central television program continues.
The Television Sydney (TVS) program, produced by the University of Western Sydney's college of business, drops in on businesses across Sydney and puts their questions to a panel of experts.
Soul Sports, based in South Penrith, was one of the businesses featured in last Tuesday's episode.
Mark Hennessy, one of the three owners, said it was good to get fresh insight from experts, especially someone outside the "bubble" of the business.
Soul Sports designs and manufactures sportswear for social clubs and professional associations including basketball, netball, hockey, soccer and rugby league.
About 90 per cent of the products were produced here, he said.
They also distribute all around Australia and have exported uniforms to Britain, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
The question put to the panel was how to achieve some of the larger clothing tenders. Mr Hennessy said one piece of advice he received was to look at manufacturing overseas, another was to increase communication with the companies requesting tenders.
For the business to stay competitive, they were looking into bringing in some imported products, Mr Hennessy said.
Mr Hennessy said he continued to watch the program to see what other businesses were experiencing and to listen to the panel's advice.
TVS is on digital channel 44 or analog 31.
