TWO people have had their licences suspended after being detected travelling more than twice the speed limit on the Great Western Highway, St Marys.
Police were conducting Lidar duties on the highway at about 9pm yesterday, police say.
Police will allege they detected a black Mazda MX5 travelling west at a speed of 150km per hour in the 60 zone.
At the same time police sighted a white Holden utility, also travelling west, at a speed between 115km per hour and 130.
Both vehicles were stopped a short time later.
A 32-year-old St Marys man driving the Mazda was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for the offences of dangerous driving and exceeding the speed limit over 45km per hour and is expected to appear in Penrith Local Court on July 22.
His licence was suspended for 14 days.
The 18-year-old driver of the utility was issued with an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit over 45km per hour.
His license was suspended for six months.
