Nepeah High: runners-up at regional carnival

23 Jun, 2009 03:56 PM
NEPEAN High School was just 13 points away from winning the regional special athletics carnival held at the school earlier this month.

They were placed second to Baulkham Hills High School, which won the day overall.

Nepean High School support teacher Helen Stevens co-ordinated the athletics carnival.

``It was fantastic,'' she said. ``It was really, really good.''

There were 43 students with a disability from Nepean High School competing at the carnival.

The rest of the competitors were from Baulkham Hills High School, Cranebrook High School, Katoomba High School, Coreen School and Springwood High School.

Athletes competed in the 100 metres, 200 metres, high jump, long jump, shot put and the ``six-minute run''.

Nepean High School students participated in every event.

Ms Stevens said Nepean High School students watched and cheered on their schoolmates during recess and lunch breaks.

Ms Stevens said she was relieved that the weather remained fine for duration of the carnival.

The carnival had been rained out for the previous three years.
