Globetrotter settles at Twin Creeks

17 Sep, 2009 11:49 AM
GLOBETROTTING professional Brett Johnson (left) has found new digs at Luddenham's Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.

The much-travelled 49-year-old has played on the professional tour and worked as a teacher since he was 15.

Johnson holds a AAA accreditation and a level-five coaching certificate. He also played as a touring professional between 1980 and 1984 on the Australian and Asian tours.

Johnson said the experience gained as a player and teaching professional put him in good stead for his job as golf director at the vast Twin Creeks layout.

``I have been involved with golf since 1975 when I was a kid,'' Johnson said.

He has been in charge at Twin Creeks for the past five months.

``I spent the past 12 years working in China before coming back to Australia and joining Twin Creeks,'' Johnson said.

``Golf is huge right across Asia and especially in China.''

In Asia, Johnson's stints including working at Shenzen Tycoon Golf Club, Fuchun Resort and Nine Dragons Admirals Golf Club in China.

He said that providing top golfing and teaching programs for players of all levels and abilities from juniors through to adults, would be his mantra at Twin Creeks.

``Twin Creeks is one of the best courses you can find anywhere in the world,'' he said.

``It's a golfers' golf course and by saying that I mean it's a place to come where you can really improve your golf. On this course, you have to work at hitting the ball in the right position and putting the ball in the right place.''

Former top professional Graham Marsh designed Twin Creeks, which opened in 2006.

Johnson said golf memberships were on the rise, with 485 having joined since opening three years ago.

There were many programs for men, women, boys, girls and women at the club.
