Bears in finals on ice

19 Aug, 2010 12:00 AM
THE Sydney Bears are through to the 2010 Australian Ice Hockey League Finals series after an 11-0 win over the Canberra Knights.

Bears' coach Vlad Rubes returned to the line-up and was delighted with the win in the last home game. ``It's a great feeling one we haven't had for three years. It was great, too, to score 11 goals. Everyone was involved. All the team was scoring goals, not just one line.''

The Bears scored two goals in the first period to Nick Cleland and Vlad Stransky.

The second period the Bears exploded, scoring five goals to five players, conceding only four shots.

Inside two minutes into the third period Eric Begin scored from distance.

The last three goals were goals two, three and four for Michal Lauko twice from cross-ice passes to cap off a great night. The Bears now face Melbourne, Newcastle and Adelaide in Melbourne.
