WALK, Don't Run was the title of The Ventures' famous instrumental hit from the '60s.
Well, the Australian Foundation for Disability is running, not walking, past the target for its Stand Up For Their Health campaign.
More than 400 people joined Canterbury Bulldogs captain Andrew Ryan in walking a funathon on a designated track around Penrith Regatta Centre last Friday.
The aim was to raise awareness of an unnoticed problem obesity among the disabled.
The financial target was $50,000.
``We were hoping to raise $50,000 and we have surpassed that, with our totals around the $65,000 mark,'' said foundation chief executive officer Tim Walton.
``The money will go toward helping us further support people with a disability.''
The Bulldogs' Ryan not only walked the walk and signed autographs for participants, he put money where his talk was.
He donated a $2500 cheque.
Ryan is the foundation's celebrity ambassador and he'd received the money as part of his community-person-of-the-year award.
