WESTBUS drivers have switched on the fairy lights and cranked up Christmas carols to prepare their buses for the festive season.
Five buses have been decorated and will be seen on routes around Penrith, St Marys, Mt Druitt, Blacktown, Richmond and Rouse Hill.
The buses have collection tins for passengers to donate to the children's ward at Nepean Hospital.
Christmas buses were introduced eight years ago when driver Terry Hessian asked Westbus management if he could decorate a bus.
"They gave us a bus, one of the old ones," he said.
"We decorated it and it's just taken off from there."
As the fleet of Christmas buses grew, drivers Gaylene Morrow and Sila Taofinuu came on board to help.
"He couldn't do it all on his own, so we're Terry's little helpers," Ms Morrow said.
The trio have devoted spare time to spreading Christmas cheer with each bus taking about 10 hours to decorate.
Mr Hessian said it is worth it to see the joy their efforts bring to passengers. "You pull up with one of these and the kids see it coming, their faces just light up," he said.
