PENRITH Council will run a free family friendly program for Australia Day at The Lakes on Saturday, January 26, so why not stay local to celebrate?
The alcohol-free event will run from 6pm until 9pm when the fireworks and laser show spectacular kicks off.
Family drawcards are:
■ PiP Comic Illusionist (6pm)
■ Performance by Timomatic (6.30pm)
■ The Sims Metal Management Extreme Lake & Land Stunt Show (from 7.15pm)
■The Buzz and Woody Action Adventure Show (8.15pm) and
■ Seattle Sound (8.30pm)
PiP Comic Illusionist, a recent finalist on Australia’s Got Talent, billed as Australia’s only comic magician and hypnotist, has performed across Australia and in the US.
Penrith mayor Mark Davies said: “For the stunt show, there will be a team from H20 with world champion water- skiers performing live.
“There will be backflipping aplenty with freestyle trial motor bikes, jet skis, wakeboarders, sky skiers, freestyle water ski jumping champions, backwards barefoot water skiing flipping plus Australia’s best flatland BMX riders and moto bike stunts and tricks.”
Also joining the team for the Australia Day show is Australian iconic flatland rider Simon O’Brien, Australia’s no. 1 rider and gold winner in the USA’s XGames.
Jack Flied, also part of the team, has just finished filming as a stunt rider in Wolverine .
On the water, Amber Wing, world wakeboard champion, will perform backflip tricks.
Cr Davies said: “Be prepared to laugh and enjoy the wild and crazy stunts performed by the toy story characters in the Buzz and Woody Action Adventure show starring Woody, Buzz, Jessie and Barbie.”
The evening will end with the Australia Day Spectacular, which will be a visual extravaganza on the water with digital effects and water performances, choreographed to music and culminating in a spectacular lighting, laser and fireworks display.
