Junod leaps into the SEABL competition

FORMER Penrith Panthers junior basketball representative Ellie Junod (Glenmore Park) has signed to play in the prestigious South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) competition with the Swinburne Kilsyth Lady Cobras.

Junod has played the last two years in the Waratah Championship League (WCL) with the Bankstown Bruins, before winning a berth with the Sydney Uni Flames in the 2012-2013 Women's National Basketball League (WNBL).

Junod won a Youth League premiership title (2011) and a Championship League premiership title (2012) with the Bruins and was named the Waratah Under 21 Youth Player of the Year in last year's WCL competition, along with selection in the Waratah All Stars Side.

Junod said: "I'm feeling really good about the move, if not a tad nervous and excited at the same time.

"I am looking forward to the new experience and a new level of basketball.

"It will be something different but I'm ready for the challenge."

Swinburne Kilsyth Lady Cobras head coach Peter Gay said: "I'm very excited about Junod joining the team, as she has had an exceptional junior career in NSW. Ellie will continue her development in 2013 and provide some extra height and athleticism coming off the bench."

The Swinburne Kilsyth Lady Cobras officially commenced their preseason in mid-January in preparation for their season opener on March 17.
