Policy debates

Federal Member for Lindsay, David Bradbury, has today challenged his Liberal opponent, Fiona Scott, to a series of open public forums to debate policy. Mr Bradbury said now that the date of the election has been announced, local residents should be provided the opportunity to hear the policy positions of both candidates.

“I believe it’s important that local residents have the opportunity to fully scrutinise the policies of the two major parties and have their questions answered,” Mr Bradbury said. “Accordingly, I have challenged Miss Scott to a series of policy debates so local residents can make an informed decision about which candidate they should support at the election.”

In his letter to Miss Scott, Mr Bradbury raised concern about the recent announcement of the Coalition's first policy, which involves a commitment to scrap the School Kids Bonus. “I’m concerned about the impact that this decision will have on the families of the 18,850 children in our community who receive this support,” Mr Bradbury said.“Therefore, I have invited Ms Scott to join me in a debate to be held in the coming weeks.”

Details of the event will be made available to the public when they are confirmed.
