Kingswood Sports Club give guide dogs $3745

‘‘MORE than just guide dogs’’ is a phrase fund-raising coordinator  Lillian Adnan likes to use when talking about her organisation.

Last week Kingswood Sports Club  donated $3745 to support the children services program  offered by Guide Dogs NSW and ACT.

‘‘Many people think Guide Dogs is  only about dogs that help the blind or vision-impaired but we also help children  find their independence and allow  them to have  hands-on experience,’’ she said.

‘‘This donation  will enable us to buy  ‘A Little Room’  which is designed to stimulate gross motor skills in infants,’’ she said.

General manager  Kingswood Sports Club Aaron Ferey   hopes  he can offer the Club’s services again.

"We have a lot of vision-impaired and blind people  coming into our club and we thought it was a good chance to give something   to them for supporting us," he said.

Ms Adnan said it was this kind of community support that allowed Guide Dogs to provide services for those who are blind or vision-impaired.

Guide Dog’s NSW and ACT provides specialised services to more than 640 infants and children.
