Swifts' Hadley keen to conquer Fever

PENRITH Netball Association's Paige Hadley is all set for her second season with the NSW Swifts and says she cannot wait for the season-opener on Monday, March 25, against West Coast Fever at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre.

The St Clair 20-year-old centre court player has signed a full-time contract with the ANZ Championship club.

She made her debut last season and has played seven matches for the NSW Swifts.

The ANZ Championship is a 10-team competition featuring the best players from Australia and New Zealand.

Last year Hadley made the Australian under-21 team and has played for various NSW age teams. She started playing netball when she was seven.

Hadley was also a member of the NSW Netball Waratahs 2011 team, which won the national competition.

The well-spoken university student said the season had come around quickly.

"It's an exciting time with

the new season about to start," she said.

Hadley said though most of the players have jobs and studies, it's a busy routine training for the elite level competition.

"We train five or six days a week," she said.

"It's exciting to be a part of the NSW Swifts. They are terrific people to play and train with — and so are the coaching staff and the entire organisation."

Last year Hadley earned a scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport.
