Come rejoice in your freedom

GET fit and celebrate Australia's freedom at Penrith's Regatta Centre on Sunday, April 21.

The Fit for Freedom Triathlon — running, riding, swimming — Family Fun Day raises money for the Australian Defence Force Assistance Trust.

"The event results from reflections on what it means to be Australian," an assistance trustee and organiser of the event, Bernard Fehon, said.

"Freedom is what it's about.

"When you ask people what they value most about living in Australia, most say it's freedom."

Mr Fehon, who is also managing director of Penrith's financial planning agency Tactical Solutions, said Australia's freedom was partly due to the efforts and sacrifices of people in the defence force.

The Australian Defence Force Assistance Trust provides financial help to men and women injured on active service, and to their families.

"Some assistance might be rehabilitation or treatment for post-traumatic stress for those who've served in Iraq and Afghanistan," Mr Fehon said.

Mr Fehon said he would take part, although not at high a level as experienced athletes.

"Entry is free, but there will be a cost to enter the triathlon," he said.

"There'll also be food and drink. Fit for Freedom is a way the community can express its appreciation by getting involved in activities that celebrate the Aussie weather."
