IT'S exactly five months until Penrith hosts the nation's biggest ever rowing event and the hooter has sounded for those who are seeking a golden view.
The tickets for the Sydney International Rowing Regatta, which will be held at our Regatta Centre, went on sale to the general public on Monday.
More than 300 tickets were sold on the first day and event spokeswoman Cora Zillich said the sale of tickets signalled "the official kick-off of the whole event".
"It went up really quickly which was a nice surprise and we're hoping to be able to build and continue from there," she said.
"On social media we received comments straight away from some British supporters saying that they had just bought their tickets, so there was an immediate response."
The week-long event will include the first of next year's Samsung World Rowing Cup regattas, the Australian Open Championships, the King's Cup and Queen's Cup Interstate Regatta and the Australian Open Schools Rowing Championships.
Event organisers are hoping to attract at least 10,000 spectators on finals days and at least 30,000 from around the globe throughout the entire regatta.
